Summary: Sather Tower (aka: “The
Campanile") is a primary symbol for
the University. Restoration of the upper spire (approximately 300' tall) included repair, repointing, repining and grouting of the marble spire portion of the tower; demo and replacement of concrete and structural steel for the primary structure of the spire; refurbishing of the 20’ lantern and construction of a new structural steel lantern base. Sather Tower is a registered California Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
